Here’s a whole new level of insanity. 58-year-old Chloe has what is called Body Integrity Identity Disorder, which is a psychological condition that makes sufferers wish they were disabled. Chloe uses a wheelchair all the time, despite the fact she can walk.

“My dream is to find a surgeon who will operate on my spine to stop my legs working”, she said. She found an overseas doctor willing to go through with the procedure (knob) but at £16,000 she couldn’t afford it.

WHEELCHAIR

“It’s the same as a transsexual man having his penis cut off”, she said. “It’s never coming back, but they know it’s what they want. When I first sat down in the wheelchair, it felt so right. It felt like somewhere I belonged. Something in my brain tells me my legs are not supposed to work”.

I… I just don’t know. How can you hate the freedom afforded to you by a pair of legs? Is BIID even really a thing? She’s like the girl at school who’s jealous of her friend for getting braces. Obviously this isn’t as simple as getting braces, or a breast reduction or a tattoo but fuck it, if that’s what she wants to do with her body then let her. No skin off our nose. But is the philanthropist who ends up forking up £16k for her surgery really a philanthropist at all?
