I don’t know how many stories you need to hear to understand that doing heroin is a completely and utterly awful decision, but just in case that hasn’t been drummed into you yet, here’s another one for you.

The story comes courtesy of ex-heroin addict Paul Hannaford, who was expelled from school and ended up joining a gang where it was actually necessary to carry a knife around with you. He was introduced to crack cocaine and heroin at the age of 22, and not even a year later he was stealing thousands of pounds worth of merchandise a month in order to fund his habit.
His body deteriorated massively, which is why his legs are so fucked up like you can see above. His whole life story is completely insane though, and you can listen to him tell it below. You might need to set aside a bit of your day for it though, because it’s 90 minutes long:
Oof. What a story – from the true pits of despair to rising above his addiction. Like I said at the start of this article, if there’s ever a reason to not start shooting up, it’s stories like this guy’s. Just don’t do it.
